1st Round NFL Mock Draft

1. Houston Texans - Jadeveon Clowney (DE) / South Carolina

If the Houston Texans stay put and decide not to trade out, then the obvious pick here is Clowney. Clowney is a can't pass up talent and with how the league has changed to a passing attack, his skill set is unmatched, his physicality is not seen in most young men coming out. This to me would not need much thought and not to mention pairing him along side J.J. Watt something to think about especially when you are in a division that has Andrew Luck.

2. St. Louis Rams - Khalil Mack (OLB) / Buffalo

Sammy Watkins will be hard to pass up, but the Rams have plenty of small fast Wide Receivers, they need someone to play Outside Linebacker opposite Alec Ogletree and to come off the edge and apply pressure, which Khalil Mack can do with his particular skill set.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Sammy Watkins (WR) / Clemson

This will be a tough pick for the Jags, knowing they do need a quarterback, but in this draft in particular i think you can wait til round two and still get a high value (QB) the Jags have the number 39th pick in the 2nd round. What makes this pick a need is that Justin Blackmon can not be counted or depended on to make a return to the team, at this point there is uncertainty surrounding him.

4. Cleveland Browns - Blake Bortles (QB) / University Central florida

When I look at this QB Draft class I do not see a can't miss or a once in the life-time type of player. Blake Bortles in my eyes is the most NFL ready QB of this class, has the proto-typical size at 6'5 232 lbs, is Mature, in big games showed up played well and lead his team to victory, at no pint throughout this whole path to the draft has he shy'd away from competition. Another thing to keep in mind and could help make this decision easier is they also have the number 26th overall pick in the first round.

5. Oakland Raiders - Greg Robinson (LT) / Auburn

Austin Howard was the raiders Right Tackle Free Agent acquisition along the Offensive Line. If Raiders want Matt Shaub to stay as healthy as possible to have a chance to help the team turn it around I would select this Man and just pencil him in as your Left Tackle.

6. Atlanta Falcons - Jake Matthews (LT) / Texas A&M

I was hard pressed in deciding between Jake Matthews or Taylor Lewan, but given the fact that Atlanta throws much more and is more finesse I see Jake Matthews to fit their scheme better, Lewan is more power and aggressive style.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Taylor Lewan (LT) / Michigan

Tampa Bay's Offensive Line is need of a man of this talent, some one who brings solid pass protection, power & aggressiveness into the running game. Mike Glennon showed he can play and if the Bucs want to add another QB there will be plenty of quality ones available in round two.

8. Minnesota Vikings - Derek Carr (QB) / Fresno State

With Blake Bortles off the board I don't see them loving Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater that much, but Vikings are in need of a serious QB change and barring a trade to move up I see them going with Derek Carr here who I think they just have more to go on and just feel he might be ready to come in and play now.

9. Buffalo Bills - Eric Ebron (TE) / North Carolina

Bills have some glaring needs at TE, WR and S, but Ebron's size and talent is too good to pass up especially if he fills and immediate need

10. Detroit Lions - Justin Gilbert (CB) / Oklahoma State

I feel Justin Gilbert is the best CB in this draft, Lions need help on pass coverage i think it is the right move at this spot. The Defensive of line is talented, but needs the help of the defensive backs to make plays in the back end and Justin Gilbert is the type of corner that can help you shut down one side of the field.

11. Tennessee Titans - Aaron Donald (DT) / Pittsburgh

The Titans are in serious need of a DT and no doubt in my mind that Aaron Donald is the best DT in this years draft class. They could also go CB, but when you have a talent like Aaron Donald who can impact your team now, you can not let him get away.

12. NY Giants - Anthony Barr (OLB) / UCLA

This would be a good pick up for the NY Giants considering that he can pass rush and would be able to play Defensive End as well. He is an Athletic Freak, has tons of upside and if you didn't notice the Giants LB's are average at best and not getting any younger.

13. St. Louis Rams - Mike Evans (WR) / Texas A&M

With Rams taking Khalil Mack with number two overall pick, I think the perfect fit here would be Mike Evans a big bodied WR who will bring size and strength to a team who right now has fast, quick WR's, but no one who can go up and fight for a jump ball. Mike Evans is big red zone target, extremely physical can handle press coverage and is a good blocker.

14. Chicago Bears - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (S) / Alabama

The Bears have a big void at Safety, he fits their style of defense and playing for Nick Saban you know he's prepared and ready for the next level. Do not Be Surprised if they maybe go CB and select Darqueze Dennard, because Bears could also use help at the CB position.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers - Calvin Pryor (FS) / Louisville

With Ryan Clark Departing as a free agent for the Washington Redskins, there was a void left at Free Safety, making this a very good selection to sure up the back end and also to learn from an all-pro like Troy Polamalu, Calvin Pryor could start as a rookie.

16. Dallas Cowboys - Kony Ealy (DE) / Missouri

I feel Dallas would of preferred if Aaron Donald was still on the board, but there is a big need at Defensive End with the departure of Demarcus Ware who signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos. Ealy is quick off the ball, moves like a Linebacker, has quick moves to the QB and has upside to take his game to the next level.

17. Baltimore Ravens - Darqueze Dennard (CB) / Michigan St.

His style of play is the way the Ravens play defense, aggressive, takes on blockers, provides run support, he is at his best in man to man coverage, is very physical and has been very consistent.

18. New York Jets - Odell Beckham Jr. (WR) / LSU

I know the Jets added Eric Decker this off season, but Jets are looking to upgrade that offense and Beckham provides speed, excellent vision, Goes after the ball and his abilities as a return man are a plus.

19. Miami Dolphins - Zack Martin (RT / G) / Notre Dame

Many experts are saying that the Dolphins should look at Linebacker, but the Dolphins just spent a lot of money on Danell Ellerbee and Phillip Wheeler and to just give up on guys who played only one season under your defensive system is not smart these guy have skills. Miami needs Offensive Line help and Zack Martin brings versatility in being able to play Tackle or Guard, he has balance, strong hands, good feet, smart and is ready to step in and play now.

20. Arizona Cardinals - Brandin Cooks (WR) / Oregon State

I feel Arizona needs a quick home-run threat, most the WR's on their roster are over 6'1, but they do not have the quick slot guy who consistently helps move the chains. They can still draft a quality QB in the second round if they feel need too, i don't think its such a pressing matter right now while you have Carson Palmer there.

21. Green Bay Packers - Ryan Shazier (OLB) / Ohio State

The Packers have a huge void at OLB especially with how important that position is in a 3-4 Defensive scheme. They could maybe go WR here, but Ryan Shazier has some buzz to him and ultimately just fits their needs and his game translates well to what they are looking for.

22. Philadelphia Eagles - Ra'shede Hageman (DT) / Minnesota

There are some questions if he was full throttle all the time, but i don't think that will be a concern. I have watched games that he has played in and when this kid is on he's on and just makes plays. In my opinion he could help out this Eagles defensive line immediately.

23. Kansas City Chiefs - Xavier Su'a Filo (OG) / UCLA

The Chiefs are in need of an offensive guard, especially after Jon Asamoah signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent. He is a nasty blocker, has agility in pass protection, athletic enough to pull and Block on screens, quick off the ball and his stock just continues to rise.

24.Cincinnati Bengals - Dee Ford (DE) / Auburn

Showed how dominant he could be at the Senior Bowl, has a burst to the QB and basically fills two needs with one player, because he can line up at defensive end or can be moved out to outside linebacker, this in my opinion is a solid pick for the bengals.

25. San Diego Chargers - Kyle Fuller (CB) / Virginia Tech

Chargers have a need to solidify their Db's and Fuller brings size, range, can play the slot or outside, pretty good in press coverage, very good tackler in run support and at this spot is very good value for a CB of that skill who would fit right in with their defensive scheme.

26. Cleveland Browns - Jason Verett (CB) / TCU

I would compare Verett to a Brent Grimes mold, lacks ideal height, but just makes plays. Very good route recognition, plenty of speed to carry vertical routes, very aggressive run defender and excellent ball skills.

27. New Orleans Saints - CJ Mosley (MLB) / Alabama

Sure Tackler, outstanding instincts, coached by Nick Saban, can play in either a 3-4 or 4-3 Defensive style, tough and very quick to read and react for tackles. If a player of his magnitude does fall to their lap you can not pass him up, because he will help a defense immediately.

28. Carolina Panthers - Allen Robinson (WR) Penn State

The Panthers have an obvious need at WR, this pick would be a solid choice. He has good size & outstanding ball skills, knows how to use his size, attacks ball in the air, elusive and something I like that I saw in games and during the combine is is his competitiveness.

29. New England Patriots - Kelvin Benjamin (WR / TE) / FSU

There are talks that Benjamin might be better suited for Tight End, which for the Patriots would be something of an interest, because they do need WR and TE help. What makes the move to tight end interesting for them is they can not count on Rob Gronkowski's health and Benjamin is a hulk of a man standing 6'5 240 lbs, very physical, outstanding jump ball catcher, big end zone target something Tom Brady was missing last season.

30. San Fran 49ers - Austin Seferian Jenkins (TE) / Washington

This is a monster of a man and a nightmare to cover in the end zone. Many teams are going the way of two TE sets and the 49ers have Vernon Davis, that would be an intimidating duo. He has excellent ball skills, is a mismatch type of player, carries defenders after the catch and still has room to grow and develop.

31. Denver Broncos - Timmy Jernigan (DT) / FSU

Powerful and disruptive, plays with leverage and strength against the run, as a pass rusher has explosive hands. The Broncos in the Super Bowl had a tough time stopping the run as throughout the season as well, this would be a smart move by them if he is there.

32. Seattle Seahawks - Ja'wuan James (RT) / Tennessee

Has the experience starting four years while playing in the SEC Conference, has ideal size, excellent pass blocker, has foot quickness able to reach athletic pass rushers. His name has been circling around in team war rooms and stock continues to rise, this would be a good pick up for the defending Super Bowl Champs.
